2024 Application for the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduate Internship in Astronomy at the Maria Mitchell Observatory

Deadline: February 1, 2024, 11pm EST

Application Process: Please fill out the following online form. Provide the names and institutions of two people who are familiar with your academic accomplishments and your research experience or potential. Please provide your letter writers with the following link: reference letter submission page where they will be able to upload a letter. At the bottom of this page, please upload the following documents in PDF format. Upon submission of the application you will receive an automated email confirmation. This email will contain a PDF file of your entire application, including your uploaded PDF documents, if your documentation was uploaded successfully. Please note: If you do not receive this completed PDF file, your application materials were not uploaded successfully and will not be processed. If you need assistance saving your documents in PDF format, please contact reu@mariamitchell.org.

1) Essay:

One page maximum, describing your background and interests, why you want to participate in the Maria Mitchell Observatory's summer NSF-REU program, how this experience will help you in your long-term personal and professional goals, and any other information you wish to share, i.e. hardships you have overcome or difficulties you have faced.

2) Resume/CV:

Include information about any scholarships, awards, academic honors, previous research internships, or other experience relevant to your application.

3) Transcripts:

Unofficial are okay. Please do not submit secured PDF files. If you have multiple transcripts, please combine them into a single PDF file.
